Even more striking is the convergence of the separate topics of this review. While the search for naked singularities in the collapse of highly prolate systems has yielded controversial results, a naked singularity was discovered in the collapse of spherically symmetric scalar fields. The numerical exploration of cosmological singularities has yielded strong evidence that the asymptotic behavior is local--each spatial point evolves toward the singularity as a separate universe. This means that conclusions from these studies should be relevant in any generic collapse. This area of research then should begin to overlap with the studies of black hole interiors (see for example [48]).
